Why do righties think America is a Westernized nation?

The USA was not built on secularism. The USA was built on Christian families worshiping God as they chose to worship God. Christian America built schools to teach the children so they could read the Holy Bible. Our Constitution was formed to keep the government from declaring that we all must worship one church as England did. Have you read any literature written by early Americans? These were God-fearing people.
