How can people jump to the conclusing that an illegal immigrant murdered the New Mexico Rancher?

"Illegals" aren't often blamed for banking fraud, but, when the crime is that of killing a rancher, whose property is on the border, it is very probable, that somebody crossing the border illegally (either to become immigrant or simply to smuggle drugs and return) is responsible.
